Definition of a Fractal:
A fractal is a pattern that repeats itself at different scales, creating similar shapes or structures no matter how much you zoom in or out.
The Fractal Nature of Wisdom:
All wisdom is somewhat fractal-like; the deeper the wisdom, the more fractal-like it becomes. Profound wisdom reveals recurring patterns that can be applied across various layers of understanding.
As you delve deeper, each layer of wisdom mirrors the larger whole, revealing new dimensions of meaning, much like fractals reveal infinite complexity within simple structures.
The deepest wisdom is often symbolic and metaphorical. Its truths remain constant and can be applied to many things at many scales. Symbols can transform complex ideas into simple yet profound expressions, transcending language and cultural barriers.
They encapsulate layers of meaning, which is why so many ancient teachings and philosophies used symbolism to convey profound truths. This is also why symbolic wisdom is the best example to describe the fractal-like nature of wisdom.
Here is an Example of Symbolic Wisdom That Can Be Applied on Different Scales showing its fractal like nature:
Spiral Wisdom:

Personal Growth: Personal growth follows a spiral, where individuals revisit challenges with increasing wisdom and maturity, learning from past experiences to handle similar situations more effectively.
Social Systems and Communities: Communities evolve by revisiting past issues and adapting old solutions to new contexts, building resilience and strength through each cycle.
The Environment: Ecosystems regenerate through recurring cycles of life, death, and renewal, growing more complex and stable over time as they adapt to changing conditions.
Technology: Technological advancement spirals forward by revisiting and refining old ideas, using new knowledge to create more advanced solutions.
History: History evolves in a spiral, with societies learning from past mistakes and triumphs to build more sophisticated systems of governance and peace.
Cosmic and Evolutionary Scales: The universe’s growth follows a spiral, with stars and galaxies evolving. Each cycle of creation and destruction contributes to the cosmos's ongoing transformation.
As you can see, when you understand spiral wisdom, it unlocks many doors of understanding. When you comprehend one small thing, you can apply it in many contexts.
In my blog "Fractal Universe Theory," I covered how the nature of our universe is fractal-like. From the nature of language to how we experience weeks, months, years, and decades. Also how plants form to the patterns in shorelines and the cosmos.
Almost every aspect of life has fractal qualities both physically and metaphysically. This understanding, along with the fact that our brain and neurons are literally wired in fractal patterns, gives us vast awareness of the nature of life and how wisdom can be applied .
Something quite profound to take away from this is that the small things we do or come to understand can serve as keys to unlocking larger doors, even if we don't see them right away.
This ties into the idea of potentiality in Aristotelian thought, where everything has the potential to become something else. Small steps or insights can serve as catalysts that unlock dormant possibilities, allowing us to grow and evolve in ways we might not have thought possible. It’s a process of becoming, where the future is always unfolding in ways we cannot fully predict, but the small things we do contribute to that ongoing evolution.
Everything is in a constant state of becoming, and each step, no matter how small, contributes to a larger process of growth and transformation.
I apply this theory personally by practicing small acts of creation often. Painting, writing, baking, etc. Mundane things. I suppose I view life as one big act of creation, and by practicing perfecting the small acts of creation, it helps me create a bigger vision of the life I want to step into and how to get there.
The wisdom I learn through the symbolic or metaphorical properties of these small acts involves lessons such as patience, giving my vision space, detachment, trusting the process, and the list goes on. This is just one example of how small practices and disciplines open up doors of wisdom in alignment with the fractal universe theory with their symbolic properties.
